"Since its inception the Community has provided a unique forum for intellectual exchange across the spectrum of the university’s disciplines. The lectures, whether by active faculty or retired, reflect the groundbreaking talent at A&M, and always challenge the mind and stimulate discussion. The social interaction provides meaningful connections to old friends and the opportunity to make new ones. CFR embodies the ideal of a university community."
- David G. Woodcock, Professor Emeritus of Architecture

"In retirement I continue to keep up with many programs in my former area of work, but often don't use time to investigate other things going on. Through the Community of Faculty Retirees my perspective of and appreciation for many exciting and fascinating ongoing activities have been widened."
- Kim Feldman

"The speakers are consistently outstanding. Plus, I enjoy the opportunity to socialize with the friends and acquaintances who attend CFR events."
- Sandy Tucker, Retired, University Libraries

"Over the 35 years I have been associated with Texas A&M, I have seen the quality of educational scholarship at the University become comparable with the best academic institutions in the world such as The University of Cambridge, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California at Berkeley, institutions with which I had personal experience. As a Dean of the College of Science 1983-1992, a Distinguished Professor and chair of a committee in the early 2000s charged with examining university quality, I was made aware of happenings across the entire campus. Seeing this growth continue as a faculty retiree through the programs of the Community of Faculty Retirees has been a special delight. These programs have continued to show me that A&M has truly superb scholarship across its many disciplines. Thus, it makes me pleased to remain supportive of A&M in my community (I live in The Woodlands) and with future students and their families."
- John Fackler, Distinguished Professor, Retired - Chemistry Department
